Extra-Curricular

An enriching extra-curricular journey awaits

We provide varied and numerous opportunities for children to learn, have fun and engage outside the classroom through clubs and residential trips.

The range of after school clubs on offer is extensive, giving your child an opportunity to follow their passions and develop their skills in areas not necessarily covered by the curriculum.

We strive to provide clubs that capture children’s imaginations and give them memories that stay with them long after they’ve outgrown our classrooms.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs can vary from year to year, but currently include football, tag rugby, hockey, judo, yoga, cookery, art, drama, orchestra, choir, book, computer, Minecraft, chess, exam and outdoor clubs.

We take pride in our pupils achievements in both sports and the arts.

Sports

Our sports teams do exceptionally well, particularly in sports such as football and hockey. St. Mary’s pupils (Years 3 – 6) regularly play competitive sports matches against other local independent schools.

Arts

As part of our children’s character education, we have a strong arts culture within school. From our school choir to music lessons, drama productions and musicals, to dance and art scholars club, there is something for all of our children.

RESIDENTIAL TRIPS

Boundless discoveries through engaging educational trips

As part of their character education, our children enjoy residential trips from Year 3 – Year 6.

In Year 3, the children enjoy a 2 day trip, with an overnight stay under canvas, at Cuffley in the Hertfordshire countryside.

In Year 4, pupils go to Ufton Court for a 3 day trip, with two nights at this wonderful Tudor learning centre, including a range of outdoor activities.

In Year 5, our children enjoy a 4 day trip for an action packed trip that typically includes climbing, raft building, orienteering and bushcraft, with three nights away.

In Year 6, our oldest children have a very special trip to Wales, where their week long adventure can include canoeing, coasteering, caving and climbing, with five nights away.

It is wonderful to see our pupils progress from the nervousness of what’s often their first night away from their parents in Year 3, to the fun and laughter of a week of outdoor activities in Year 6.
