Year 6 create Alberto Giacometti sculptures
If you have a chance to look in the school library in the coming weeks you will notice some impressive figures on display…
Year 6 have been learning about the Swiss sculptor and painter Alberto Giacometti, in particular looking at his long thin figure sculptures and creating their own pieces of art.
They started their own figures with dowelling and wire, before adding form with rolled newspaper. Finally they used modroc – plaster bandage to cover the figure and drape clothes over the form.
The children have done an outstanding job and the sculptures take pride of place on top of the book shelves.
