We Stand and Remember
The Gainsborough Residences Association, British Legion and the Town Hall Councillors invited the Year 5 pupils from St. Mary’s and other local schools to mark Remembrance Day.
St. Mary’s pupils jointly wrote a short poem about’ What Remembrance Day means to them’ and Lily Whittam read the poem. All children also planted a wooden cross with a poppy on the embankment at Makins recreation ground.
We Stand And Remember
We stand and remember
Brave soldiers who died for us
The blood they shed, reflected in the poppies
They fought for peace not war.
We stand and are thankful
For soldiers willing to sacrifice
Their families left behind in sorrow and despair
They showed great pride and courage.
We stand and remember.
