Nutrition

We know eating the right things helps children perform in the classroom and we take care to provide tasty, varied and nutritious school meals.

We all know that what you eat is your fuel for the day, and we work closely with our caterers Thomas Franks to ensure your children are fuelled with healthy, nutritious meals while they’re at school.

Awarded five stars by the Food Standards Agency and gold by South Oxfordshire Healthy Choice for Food Hygiene and Healthy Eating, our chefs are proud of the work they do. Varied and exciting menus are designed to not only give our pupils all the energy they need to concentrate and enjoy school, but also to expand their culinary horizons – you’re just as likely to find a Moroccan-style tagine on the menu as you are a shepherd’s pie.

A hot meal is available at lunchtime and there’s always a well-stocked salad bar to provide additional options and flavours. Fresh fruit, yoghurt and other freshly made sweet treats are available to round off a balanced meal.

We’re very proud of our ties to the local community, and these extend to our lunches that use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.

Our chefs are mindful of special dietary requirements, so a vegetarian option will always be on offer, and because all of our food is prepared from scratch each day, we’re able to cater for any specific dietary requirements your child may have.

In 2015, St Mary’s was given the ‘Healthy Choice’ award by South Oxfordshire District Council following an assessment of our catering provision, recognising the variety and quality of meals we provide for our pupils.
