Experienced staff join dedicated team!
Three new teachers have joined the St. Mary’s family for the start of the new term. Set in the heart of Henley on Thames, St. Mary’s Preparatory School has been instilling a love of learning for life into pupils for over 90 years and introduces specialist teachers to children from Nursery to help every pupil reach their full potential.
With a wealth of experience, the new class teacher and two specialist teachers joining the school are brimming full of ideas to engage children in their learning:
‘Outstanding’ rated teacher Miss Rosie Wilkinson has joined as the Year 3 class teacher, with a Masters in English Literature from Glasgow and a PGCE from Reading. Miss Wilkinson is a huge advocate of learning outside the classroom and is looking forward to utilising the school’s outdoor classroom at Swiss Farm to enhance learning experiences.
Miss Melissa Williams is the newly appointed Art Teacher. Miss Williams is herself a very talented artist, specialising in print and portraiture. With a BA Hons degree in Fine Art from The University of Southampton and a Primary PGCE from Goldsmiths College with an early years specialism, Miss Williams is excited to see the creativity of St. Mary’s children.
Music Teacher Mr Adam Stangroom has joined St. Mary’s from Henley College. A musician for over 30 years, Mr Stangroom has taught music from 3 year olds to adults. He has a BA Hons in Secondary Education with Music as his specialism from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. In Mr Stangroom’s career prior to teaching he helped to set up and found a record label and artiste management company with the most notable success being the no.2 hit by The Automatic, Monster. He is a classically trained singer and instrumental musician with a love of popular music and jazz styles.
Rob Harmer, Headmaster, has welcomed the new staff:
‘I am incredibly proud of the dedicated staff at St. Mary’s. We are all looking forward to working with Rosie, Melissa and Adam and I am sure that their experience and enthusiasm will benefit every single child here.
The team at St. Mary’s is committed to constantly challenging our pupils to push the boundaries of what they believe is possible and delight in seeing children go further than they can ever imagine. Rosie, Melissa and Adam clearly share our passion for learning and we are thrilled they are now part of the St. Mary’s family!’
