Record Keeping and Progress
Through close contact with the children, through play, discussion, observation, questioning and listening the children's abilities and stage of development become known. This knowledge is used to plan projects and activities which lead the child to the next stage. Discussion about the children's progress and curriculum planning takes place at the weekly staff meetings.
Children take paintings and 'activity work' home on a daily basis. Books play a large part of life at St. Mary's and children are encouraged to share and to listen to stories every day. In Nursery, children borrow books to enjoy at home which extends into Kindergarten until they are ready to start on a reading scheme.
Progress is regularly discussed with parents both informally and at regular parents evenings. At the end of the summer term, an EYFS Child Profile report is sent home to Kindergarten Parents.
