Next Schools

There are many and varied schools which our children have moved to, most of them are within a 15 mile radius of Henley.

We have a "Next Schools" evening for parents, where we provide prospectuses and discuss the Senior Schools. We also have several of our ex-pupils present, to give first-hand information about these schools.

In all cases these children testify that they have been well prepared, both academically and socially, to cope with the move to their new school.

We do emphasise that the best time to move your child on is at the end of year 6 when he/she has had all the kudos of being at the top of the school.

At this stage, children in Year 6 are:-

• Given more responsibility around the school
• Set as examples to the younger children
• Picked for most of the sporting teams
• Stars in the main school Play
• The backbone of the choir and orchestra
• Taken on a weekend trip to France 
• Taken for a week to the Sealyham Activities centre

The result of this extra exposure to responsibility and success, is that the children grow in confidence and are much more able to face a new environment with self-belief and assurance. At the same time their academic level rises exponentially over the year, as the expectations are increased, and again, because we raise the bar, they respond accordingly. By the end of the year we are very proud of the excellent progress they have made.

The standards of the next schools are quite exacting and this is why we make sure that these children are ready for that challenge.
