Year 5 Trip to The Ashmolean Museum

Posted on 09 December 2011

On Friday 9th December Year 5 visited The Ashmolean Museum at Oxford University to conclude their study of the Ancient Greeks this term. They spent the morning looking at the numerous Greek artefacts in the various galleries. They were able to look at primary sources from the period including Greek vases, statues, jewellery and many other impressive artefacts.

In the afternoon, the children took part in a taught session called "In the Agora". They learnt all about the Greek marketplace and what the Greeks would buy and sell. It was a most engaging session and all the children seemed to enjoy themselves during the day and they all said they would like to visit The Ashmolean Museum again very soon.
