Year 4 Trip to Hampton Court

Posted on 11 November 2011

On Friday 11th November the Year 4 trip to Hampton Court Palace took place.  After an uneventful journey we arrived at this beautiful palace which was built by Cardinal Wolsey for Henry VIII between 1515 and 1530.   What a spectacular building it is!  In an attempt to beat the rain, we headed straight for the elaborate maze in the grounds of the palace.  Fortunately everyone emerged unscathed and we spent the next hour exploring the various rooms of Hampton Court including the massive kitchens and Henry's living quarters.

The afternoon was spent in The Clore Education Centre taking part in a session called "Investigating Henry.". The children had to be historians looking for clues in order to build a picture of Henry VIII.  The session was great fun and the children worked really well in their groups. We returned home to school after a super day out having learnt all about Henry VIII and having visited one of his many palaces.
