ICT
The school has eleven multi-media computers, sited within the classrooms so that they are used regularly by the children as part of their daily routine. In addition, there is a central I.T. suite with eight networked computers, linked to the internet and with a wide variety of software. All children are taught word processing and publishing skills and enjoy producing final well-presented copies of their own work. Children from year 3 have timetabled lessons in groups of eight, where they work independently on projects linked with other areas of the curriculum. In later years, they are encouraged to contact others through Email and access the internet to obtain information.
The library is housed in a central area of the school and a computerised library system, with bar code reader, is used by everyone to withdraw and return books. Library and study skills are taught as part of the course in humanities.
The older children are introduced to spread sheets in science and maths in order to analyse statistical data and produce graphs and tables and a microscope is linked to one of the computers. The school has a scanner and digital camera which are used in conjunction with publisher software to develop and maintain the school's web-site. This is intended as a resource for parents and children, rather than an advertising tool. Current term dates, diary, school fees and lots of photographs can be found by visiting the site.
