French

When teaching French to young children, the priority is to establish the patterns and sounds of the spoken language, and therefore it is essential that it is taught by a native speaker.

French is taught from four years old through games, singing and role play.  Each lesson contains a range of short and varied activities designed to maintain the children's interest but structured to gradually increase their vocabulary and understanding of the language.  The emphasis is on producing confident speakers.  More formal teaching becomes part of the lessons from year 3 when some written French is introduced.
